Kathleen Yeater is retired from the Southern York School District where she served as the Director of Orchestras and string specialist, instructing students in grades 3 through 12. In 1994 and again in 1999, her Susquehannock High School String Quartet performed at the PMEA State Convention. Her Susquehannock High School Orchestra performed at the PMEA State Conference in Valley Forge in April 1996.

Mrs. Yeater is currently in her fourteenth year as director of the York Junior Symphony Orchestra (YJSO). She plays violin with the York Symphony Orchestra and is first violinist with the Salem String Quartet.

In 1996, Mrs. Yeater received the National School Orchestra Director of the Year Award. This award, from the National School Orchestra Association, is given to one individual in the nation each year. She is past president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National School Orchestra Association. Mrs. Yeater is the recipient of the Citation of Excellence given by the Pennsylvania Music Educators?Association and has received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the South-Central PA Joint Council for School Improvement. In 2000, Mrs. Yeater was selected by the School Band and Orchestra magazine as the outstanding music educator for Pennsylvania. In the spring of 2003, Mrs. Yeater was honored by PADESTA/NOSA and received the Outstanding Orchestra Director Award for the states of Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Mrs. Yeater and her husband, Bob, live in York. They are the parents of four daughters.
